Baguio College of Technology produced its first batch of five-year B.Sc. Industrial Engineering graduates this year.

The course opened in 2004 to cater to the needs of industrial engineers in the country. In 2004, 14 students were admitted to B.Sc. Industrial Engineering headed by Engr. Charlie Marquez, a Louisian Industrial Engineering undergraduate and who took his masters in UP-Diliman. Engr. Lorena Dayrit chairs the department as of 2007.
“The course focuses on the proper utilization of the 4 M’s (man, machine, material, money or management) in an industry,” Dayrit stated. Graduates can be employed as human resource personnel in Human Resource department, time and motion analyst in production, higher management and systems department.
Industrial Engineers are certified through an online application and examination in Manila conducted by the Philippine Institute of Industrial Engineers (PIIE).
According to Gerardo Dacanay, auto-CAD is incorporated in the course which is one of their edge. Graduates of this course have their own ideas to share.
“Taking up Industrial Engineering course is one of the best courses offered at BETI,”said Leonard Mapangdol.
“I can still recall what Engr. Posadas told us that Industrial engineering is a jack of all trades,”added Corisay.
“As a graduate of this course, I believe we will become future managers provided, we must follow that dream for it leads us in the right direction,” stated Tegui-ing.
“Baguio College of Technology is one among the two colleges offering Industrial engineering course,” said Dayrit.
